About Karnofsky Performance Status
What is KPS?
The Karnofsky Performance Status (KPS) scale allows physicians to assess a patient's ability to perform ordinary tasks. It was originally developed for cancer patients but is now widely used in various clinical settings.
Clinical Applications
KPS is used to guide treatment decisions, determine eligibility for clinical trials, assess prognosis, and track functional changes over time. A score of 70 or above is often required for aggressive treatments.
